Who is behind the Aris Quartet?

(Excerpt from the website arisquartett.de)

Expressive, dynamic, impressive: The Aris Quartet has been at home on international stages for over a decade. With its unmistakable musical language, it has long been one of the top ranks of chamber music.

The musicians' venues include halls such as London's Wigmore Hall, the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, the Herbst Theatre San Francisco and the Philharmonie de Paris. The selection of their chamber music partners is top-class: Christiane Karg, Tabea Zimmermann, Daniel Müller-Schott, Eckart Runge, Kit Armstrong and Nils Mönkemeyer.

The ensemble is also dedicated to cross-genre projects, such as with jazz pianist Omer Klein. From the Outset, the Musicians also paid particular attention to contemporary music. Composers such as Lukas Ligeti, Gerald Resch, Misato Mochizuki and Pierre-Dominique Ponnelle entrust world premieres of their works to the quartet.

Founded in Frankfurt am Main in 2009, the Aris Quartet, whose most important mentors include Günter Pichler (Alban Berg Quartet), continues to play with an unchanged line-up.

The ensemble's success is no accident: With numerous first prizes at renowned competitions, the Aris Quartet quickly achieved an international breakthrough. The musicians were also honored as “ECHO Rising Stars” by the European Concert Hall Organization, were among the BBC's “New Generation Artists” and won five awards at the ARD International Music Competition in Munich.

In addition to regular appearances on radio and TV, the Aris Quartet has already presented six album productions that have received much attention from the trade press. Further releases will follow in 2023 and 2024 on Deutsche Grammophon and on STAGE+.
